When you visit the Moriyoshi Dam in Kitaakita City, be sure to try the “Moriyoshi Dam Curry.”

This famous “Dam Curry” features a mound of rice shaped like the embankment of the Tohoku region’s longest rock-fill dam, topped with curry simmered in a rich broth made from beef tendon and Hinai-jidori chicken.

It features Akita Komachi rice grown locally in Nemorida, spring water from Oku-Moriyoshi, and is served with Moriyoshi’s specialty quince jam.

It’s available exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays, limited to 20 servings, at the Moriyoshi Shikibi Lake View Café “Kissa Nemorida.”

At “Roadside Station Takanosu Bussan-kan” and “Shikibikan,” we’re currently offering a colorful, vegetable-packed version of the Moriyoshi Mountain Dam Curry, served with lightly fried vegetables and a salad! Why not try it alongside the original?
