The hydrangea, the official flower of Kitaakita City, is in full bloom
Suiun Park, where 2,500 hydrangeas of nine varieties bloom in all their glory, was established as a hydrangea park in Showa 63 through a volunteer-led planting initiative.
In addition to the most commonly planted Western hydrangeas, nine varieties—including lacecap hydrangeas and Ezo hydrangeas—have been planted. Since the peak blooming period varies by variety, visitors can enjoy the flowers over a long period, right up until early August when the globe hydrangeas—which bloom the latest—are in full bloom.
Since they begin blooming in mid-July, why not plan a visit to catch them at their peak?
