Established in Showa 6 (1931), this early childhood education facility was founded by the “Sacred Heart Society for the Love of Children” with the cooperation of the Kosaka Mine to provide childcare for the children of mine employees.

Initially, the facility was opened by renovating an old building in Ginzan-cho, but in Showa 7, the long-awaited new school building was constructed, which is now known as “Tenshikan.”

It is a single-story wooden structure with a Western-style exterior befitting a Christian-based nursery school.

Its design—featuring clapboard siding, tall vertical sash windows, and ridge ornaments on the roof—is distinctive and rivals that of the Kosaka Mine Office and the Korakukan.

Inside, in addition to the director’s office, which chronicles the history of Maria-en, there is a multipurpose hall.
