The "Daimonji," Boasting the Largest Size and Greatest Beauty in Japan
The Odate Daimonji Festival is a summer tradition in Odate City.
The “Daimonji” character—the largest of its kind in Japan—is illuminated on Mount Houou, located in the eastern part of the city, while a fireworks display takes place on the banks of the Nagaki River, which flows through the city, to pray for Odate City’s continued prosperity.
In addition to food stalls set up around the fireworks venue, stage performances and other events liven up the atmosphere, drawing large crowds of visitors.
[Venue] Nagaki River Riverside, Odate City (South of the Nagaki River, Odate City)
