This year, the event will be held at the Tashiro Multipurpose Sports Ground in Odate City as the “Tashiro Hometown Festival.” Date and Time: Sunday, June 14, 2026, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (The event will take place even in light rain.)

Held annually just as news of wild mountain vegetables begins to arrive from the mountains of Odate City, this event is designed to let visitors fully enjoy bamboo shoots at the peak of their season. It features a wide variety of activities, including food stalls and food trucks serving diverse dishes, stage performances, hands-on experience booths, and an exhibition of work vehicles.

The highlight of the event is the “Bamboo Shoot Soup,” packed with Nemagari bamboo shoots from Mt. Tashiro. You can savor these delicious bamboo shoots, known for their crisp texture and mild, sweet flavor.The soup also includes “Odate Sakura Pork,” a local brand of pork, and “mizu,” a wild vegetable harvested on Mount Tashiro, making it a hearty and satisfying meal. It’s so popular that long lines form every year.

In 2024, the event expanded in scale, with a variety of activities spread across three areas. On the main venue stage, live performances by local artists, superhero shows, and dances by Yosakoi teams took place, creating an atmosphere as lively as a music festival.Additionally, the second and third venues featured DJ booths and large play structures for children, along with numerous hands-on activities such as survival games, leather crafting, and bouldering.At the food stalls, fresh bamboo shoots harvested early that morning on Mount Tashiro were a big hit. The lineup also included a variety of dishes showcasing the vendors’ unique styles, such as bamboo shoot meat rolls and non-alcoholic cocktails inspired by bamboo shoots.

The Bamboo Shoot Festival offers a chance to fully savor Nemagari bamboo shoots—at the peak of the season—in a relaxed and open atmosphere. People of all ages can enjoy themselves to the fullest. We invite you to come with your whole family.
