Kosaka Rail Bike

A rail bike is a vehicle that is pedaled like a bicycle on railroad tracks. The Kosaka Railway was once built between Odate and Kosaka and served local industry by transporting lumber. The Kosaka Rail Bike is an exhilarating ride through the wilderness on an abandoned rail line. You can choose your favorite ride from a variety of vehicles, including a two-seater, four-seater, and trolley cars. Trolley cars pulled by a motorized vehicle and electrically assisted vehicles make it enjoyable even for those with limited physical strength, such as the elderly and small children. Adults and children alike can enjoy themselves to their heart's content.

Akitainu Visitor Center

5 minutes drive from Wappa Building. The Odate Tourism and Exchange Facility "Akitainu Visitor Center" was built on the model of the Taisho era Shibuya Station, where the loyal dog Hachiko, born in Odate, waited for his owner. Yes, Odate is the hometown of Hachiko, the loyal dog known from the statue of Hachiko in Shibuya. The statue of Hachiko looking straight at JR Odate Station reminds us of those days. Inside the museum, there is an Akita Inu Museum where you can enjoy learning about the characteristics and history of the Akita Inu, an Akita Inu Exhibition Room where you can see cute Akita Inus, and a souvenir corner where you can buy Akita Inu merchandise and Odate's specialty products. Enjoy the charm of the Akita Inu to your heart's content.
