Unique Foreign Heritage House
During the modernization of the Ani mine, two houses were built for German engineer Adolf Mezger in 1879. Today, the one remaining house functions as the foreign heritage museum.
Mezger designed the buildings himself in a renaissance-gothic style and local clay was used for the brick construction. The building features half-circle and vertical sliding windows, slatted shutters, and a wooden veranda around the outside; architectural rarities during that time.
The Foreign Heritage Museum is connected by an underground passage to the Ani Folklore museum made in fashion of old mining tunnels.
